New year, new you! Ring in the new year with these recommended resolutions from Dr. Jack.

Happy New Year everyone!

If you’re like us here at Dr. Jack’s Functional Medicine, you have started to think about the clean slate the new year brings and compiled a list of resolutions. Below are five simple areas we recommend focusing on this year to ensure you come out of 2021 a better you!

1. Water

Water is not only required for survival but also an amazing tool that can be easily incorporated into your daily routine to cleanse and revitalize your body. We should all be drinking a minimum of half our weight in oz. of water. So, if you weigh 200 lbs., you should be drinking 100 oz. of pure water per day.

2. Sleep

Make an effort to sleep for 7.5 hours per night. Sleep is essential time that our body needs to make repairs and recharge. 

3. Movement

Get your body moving for 30-60 minutes daily. This could be a jog around the park, yoga, Pilates, biking, swimming, a relaxing walk, dance class, stretching or Tabata’s!

4. Nutrition

Focus on eating clean, whole foods. That means organic whenever possible and the more local the source the better. A good guideline is to only eat that which can be found in nature alive (vegetables, fruits, meats, etc.).

5. Thoughts

Our thoughts are a powerful, subtle force at work throughout our lives. This year pay attention to the thoughts underlying your day-to-day. Are they happy? If not, make a concerted effort to think more positively, express gratitude and you will see a positive change in your life.
